I've been in the animal care field for 9 years spending 6 as a zoo keeper caring for animals of all kinds and 2 in my local SPCA's Behavior Department working with dogs with behavioral challenges to help them get adopted.

After growing up with a reactive dog who was tough to manage, I became dedicated to learning more about animal behavior and how I could utilize positive techniques to help pet owners who struggle to find reliable care & behavior support for their furry, feathered, and scaled friends.

What Madi Brings to the Team

Madi's background in animal care, behavior, and training allows her to provide quality care to pets & peace of mind to pet parents while they're away from home.

She graduated with an A.S. in Zoo Animal Technology and a B.A. in Animal Behavior, Ecology & Conservation. Additionally, she has 9 years of experience caring for a variety of domestic & exotic animals in zoos, animal shelters, and loving homes across the country.

When caring for your pets, Madi aims to have as much fun as possible while also reinforcing good manners.

April Vega: Relief Animal Care Specialist + Zoo Keeper

April is currently a part-time keeper at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium! She's been working in animal care for 7 years, with a background in shelters, zoos, research, wildlife rehab, and pet care!

She loves getting to know animals as individuals to understand what makes them tick, and to find the best ways to make the time she spends with them as fun and enriching as possible!
